The results of the first round of theatre festival Purushottam Karandak were declared on Wednesday. Teams from different colleges staged plays during the festival that started on August 12.
After performances by over 45 teams,nine were shortlisted for the final round. The plays include Sambari by Fergusson College,Bell by SP College,Ka La Kanaa Ka by MIT,Peshty by ILS,Eka Ratrichi Bai by Sinhgad Technical Education Society,Chocklatecha Bangla by Garware Commerce,Flash Mob by Modern Arts and Science College,Amhi Tighe Ani by Pune Institute of Computer Technology,Ulagaddi by Bharati Vidyapeeth,College of Fine Arts. The finals will be held at Bharatya Natya Mandir on August 31 and September 1.
Consolation prizes for best actors who performed in the preliminary rounds have also been declared. Top ten actors are Lokesh Patil (Ek Khel Madaricha),Purvi Govardhan (Punarjanm),Trupti Patil (Shidori),Shubhankar Satav (Conditions Apply),Amogh Bhongle and Rutuja Shirole (16 August) and Rohit Jadhav for (Bhavra). Three actors from the play titled Ojha by DPCOE,Trupti Pawar,Ajinkya Bayani and Swapnil Dhawde will also get best actor awards.
Consolation certificates for best directors will be given to Amogh Bhongle (16 August),Apurva Bhilare for (Peshty),Nupur Gaydhani (Eka Ratrichi Bai),Shreya Apte (Riha) and Pooja Apte (Kumpan). Manas Layal (Chocoletcha Bangla),Shivraj Vaychal (Ulagaddi) and Manjiri Godbole (Riha) were adjudged best writers.
