In another incident, the Fire Brigade got information about a man who fell into the river in the Karve Nagar area around 7 am.Pune Fire Brigade rescued two persons from drowning in the Mutha river at different locations in the city. The control room of the Pune Fire Brigade received information that a man was seen flowing in the river near Bhide bridge around 1.30 am.
Soon, a team of fire brigade reached the spot and rescued the man from Siddheshwar Ghat in Shaniwar Peth area.
He has been identified as Ajaykumar Gautam (45). Fire officer Kamlesh Choudhary said Ajaykumar was safely rescued.
In another incident, the Fire Brigade got information about a man who fell into the river in the Karve Nagar area around 7 am. A team led by fire officer Prabhakar Umratkar reached the spot. The man was seen struggling in the middle of the river. He was holding a tree log to save himself. Firemen reached him using a boat and rescued him with the help of a rope, life ring and life jacket.
“He was unable to explain to us how he fell into the river. An inquiry revealed he was residing around the same spot and was a rag picker. He was rescued safely,” said Umratkar.
