Getting cautious after the fatal incident of a hoarding collapse in Mumbai on Monday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has swung into action to avoid any similar incident in the city as the municipal commissioner has directed officials to survey all the hoardings in the city and submit a report within the next two days.

Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the condition of hoardings in the city. There are a total of 2,598 authorised hoardings in the city and 2,249 of them have submitted their structure stability report.

The civic administration claimed that there are only 95 illegal hoardings in the city, and it has removed 1,564 hoardings in the recent past.

“The civic administration has been directed to conduct an audit of all the legal hoardings as per the structure stability report of respective hoarding. Action should be taken against the defective hoarding structures. There should be necessary steps taken to ensure that no hoarding collapses due to storm and rain,” Bhosale said.

He further directed the administration that there should not be any illegal hoardings in the city and it will be the responsibility of the respective zonal commissioner to get the illegal hoardings removed in their area of operation.
