Through his initiative Little Scientist Workshop, city based Shrikant Gadre has been working towards making science an easy topic for children
Armed with simple tools like pencil, straws and magnets, this man is on a mission to make learning fun. With his initiative- Little Scientist Workshop, retired management professional Shrikant Gadre aims at making children aware of the wonders of science making use of simple tools. Science has always been considered as a boring subject. I intend to make it interesting for the young ones and help them develop a liking for it, says Gadre,60.
“Scientific discoveries like the gravitational force, centrifugal force are simplified for children to understand. The workshop starts with simple concepts like dimensions, magnetic field and levitation and later moves into complex experiments related to astrophysics and working of a simple motor and so on,” explains Gadre who has also developed a film to explain the phenomenon of solar eclipse with help of animation and easy text.
The workshop has received a very good response, says Gadre as he further elaborates,”Last year,I conducted a workshop at Anubhuti School in Jalgaon. This year they have sourced the material from me and want to conduct one on their own. and that is exactly what I intend to do. I want this to become a movement. A movement that reaches out to rural children. I already have plans to train about five children who can propagate this acquired knowledge in their villages.”
