Pune: PMPML launches new bus transport app for commuters

Android phone users can download the app from the Google Play Store and start using it from August 17. The app will be inaugurated by PMPML’s chairperson and managing director (CMD), Deepa Mudhol Munde, on Thursday.

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced the launch of the Apli PMPML mobile app on Thursday (August 15) on the occasion of Independence Day. The app will allow users to get information of all bus routes from the passenger’s current location to their desired destination as well as have live location, which will allow users to track buses in real time.

Android phone users can download the app from the Google Play Store and start using it from August 17. The app will be inaugurated by PMPML’s chairperson and managing director (CMD), Deepa Mudhol Munde, on Thursday.

Additional features of the app include online ticket booking, UPI payments and lodging complaints.

PMPML public relations officer Satish Gate said the app will allow commuters to book tickets for Metro services in the city. He informed that the daily passengers can purchase passes through the app, which are priced at Rs 40, Rs 50 and Rs 120.

Pune based organisations, that work towards the improvement of commuting in the city, like Parisar and Low Carbon Mobility Network, expressed their satisfaction, calling the app a primary need.

Tanzeel Allapur, project associate at Parisar, said PMPML has responded positively to Pune citizens’ voices and it was a significant step forward in making public transport more accessible and reliable. “However, our accountability would not stop here. We will maintain the momentum, monitor the app’s performance in terms of how user friendly it is, and ensure that any user issues are promptly addressed to make this app a true success,” she added.

On the occasion of Independence Day, the CMD will also honor outstanding workers and officers of the transport corporation.
