Rs 1,000 for posting pics of drivers talking on phone while driving
After Pune Traffic Police, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mandal Limited (PMPML) is making its presence felt on Facebook. The transport body has also announced a prize of Rs 1,000 for those who post pictures of PMPML drivers talking on mobile phones while driving.
The initiative will be launched from Sunday in association with Janwani and New Indictrans Technology Private Limited. The PMPML has asked Puneites to post photographs of drivers talking on mobile phones while driving along with the date and time of the photo, bus number,PMPML bus number, route number along with the senders name and mobile number. The sender will be given a prize of Rs 1,000 and the money will be recovered from the errant driver by means of a fine, said Dilip Band, chairman and managing director of PMPML,on Saturday.
Through its second campaign, the PMPML will ensure that commuters who may have been refused change after buying the ticket for some reason will get the remaining amount back. Many times it happens that the conductor is genuinely short of change. He writes the balance amount behind the ticket that can be later recovered from the bus depots. However not every commuter approaches the depot for a change of Re one or two, D A Pardeshi,PMPML spokesperson said.
In order to make it convenient for the commuters to get their change back, they can now post details of the ticket, date, bus number,PMPML bus number, route number along with the senders name and address and arrangements will be made to give the change to the commuter at the nearest bus stop, said Pardeshi.
This will also help PMPML in keeping a record of conductors who are habitual in not giving change to passengers, said Kishori Gadre, director,Janwani.
After the success and of the Pune Traffic Police page on Facebook,we decided to initiate a similar campaign. We approached Janwani to start a similar set-up for us,said Band.
It is an extremely good sign that organisations are opening up. We shall help PMPML to run similar small campaigns regarding every-day issues of the commuter, Gadre said. Citizens can post the pictures and complaints on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pmpml/115385911866307.
