PMC to pull down hoardings flouting norms

568 applications seeking licence renewal rejected.

568 applications seeking licence renewal rejected.

PMC has rejected a majority of applications seeking hoarding licence renewal.

“The civic administration received 1,077 applications for renewal of licences. However, only 200 were found to comply with norms and were allowed,” said Rajendra Jagtap, additional municipal commissioner. He said the decision on 309 hoardings for which all the required documents were not furnished had been put on hold.

“The civic staff will visit these hoardings before taking a decision. If a hoarding owner is able to meet the requirements, permission can be granted,” Jagtap said.

Applications for 568 hoardings have been rejected,he said, adding,“The applicants will be asked to remove the hoardings with immediate effect or the civic administration will pull them down.”

The hoardings rejected did not follow norms of height, size and location. To curb illegal hoardings,Jagtap said PMC would ensure all hoardings display registration numbers. He said hoardings would be also google-mapped for quick verification.

“We are scanning applications for hoardings. All documents will be made public so that there is no change later,” he added.
