With 21 of the 32 properties clearing their duties, nine properties finding no bidders and two properties managing to get a stay on it from National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) before the scheduled auction on Monday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) suspended the auction of the properties. It will include the nine properties listed for auctions later on. Meanwhile, it has scheduled a second auction of 53 more properties on February 14.

“PMC was to auction 32 properties whose property tax has been defaulted. However, 21 of them cleared their dues amounting to Rs 1.83 crore. Only 11 properties with dues of Rs 14.46 crore were to be auctioned, but two properties who are due to pay Rs 12.02 crore owned by Pancard club, got a stay from NCLT for the time being,” said Ajeet Deshmukh, in-charge of the civic property tax department.

The remaining nine properties with dues totalling Rs 2.22 crore got no bidders, so their auction was postponed, he said, adding that these properties would be dealt with later on.

“The valuation of the properties was decided as per market rate so no one bid for the nine properties. However, there is provision in law to get the valuation reduced by 25 per cent and again put them up for auction. We will put up the nine properties for auction at a lesser base price,” Deshmukh said.

Most properties put up for auction were from Lohegaon, which include six shops, and two office premises, two open plots, two shops and a factory shed in Mundhwa. The PMC list of properties to be auctioned also includes three shops from Balewadi, a club house, a building of Pancard Club and a privately owned plot in Baner, three office spaces in Kharadi, three shops in Bibwewadi, three shops in Dhayari, one open plot, two flats in Wanowrie and one shop in Dhanori.

Meanwhile, PMC has appointed a government evaluator for ascertaining the base value of the 184 properties the civic administration plans to auction over defaulting on property tax.
