Soon, people would be able to pay their water tax, property tax, electricity and phone bills at the grocery shop next door. The industrial town of Pimpri-Chinchwad will have Pay Points in next two-three months for the payments.
Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma said by the end of this year,PCMC plans to set up at least 50 Pay Points at different places in the city. Already the post offices have agreed to set up 10 Pay Points. We also plan to have such Pay Points at malls, multiplexes and shopping arcades, he said.
At the Pay Points,Sharma said, people can pay their property tax and water tax by cash or through cards at their convenient time without waiting in endless queues. A machine will be installed at the Pay Points. Tenders have been issued for buying the machines, he said. The civic chief said Pay Points at the grocers means citizens can pay their taxes next door.
It is the most convenient means of paying the bills. Last fiscal,I noticed there was huge rush for paying water and property tax bills. This also hampers tax collection, he said, adding that he had noticed the system in London. Pay Points have been doing well everywhere. They have become the norm worldwide, he said.
The civic chief said the PCMC was holding talks with BSNL and MSEDCL so that the payment for these bills could be brought under Pay Point.
