The Promoters and Builders Association of Pune has been renamed as the Pune wing of CREDAI the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India.
The PBAP that was set up 27 years ago with the goal to bring greater professionalism and customer accountability has grown from there to be the representative body of over 270 builders and developers who operate in the Pune region. These members constitute about 85 per cent of all projects in Pune.
Explaining the move to be part of CREDAI,Satish Magar, president of CREDAI Pune said we felt that our interests would be better served as part of the national body. When PBAP was formed, there was no national body that represented the interests of our industry. However, over time members of PBAP took the initiative and participated in the creation of CREDAI. The industry has issues that require representation and action on a national, state and local level. CREDAI,at the all India level, caters to the national level issues faced by the industry. CREDAI Maharashtra (the state level association) takes care of the state level issues while CREDAI Pune will deal with the local level aspects. This structure replicates the way the issues faced by the industry are managed.
As CREDAI Pune, the association of 270 members will now be able to take up Punes issues on the national platform. The exhibition,The Best of West, organised by the association at Hotel Orchid,Balewadi was inaugurated on Friday by Magar. It has over 5,000 apartments being showcased by 45 builders. Best of West covers projects in Baner,Aundh,Balewadi,Pashan,Wakad,Pimple Saudagar,Rahatni,Pimpale Nilakh,Hinjewadi,Talegaon etc.
In the first day itself Best of West had over 1,600 visitors and several builders reported several site visits by prospective buyers. As Magar put it,Pune is seeing a resurgence in demand in the real estate sector as interest rates have rationalised giving greater impetus to the latent demand by real home buyers. The exhibition is on till April 26.
