The Gujarat women’s cricket team won their match against Saurashtra on a higher first innings lead thanks to a century scored by Disha Patel in the senior women’s west zone league being played at the Poona Club cricket ground on Tuesday. In their first innings,Gujarat were all out for 115 runs with Darshan Rajput top-scoring with 49 runs and Deepa Patel chipping in with a handy 29. Kruti Khetani was the strike bowler for Saurashtra,scalping five important wickets while Neha Chavda supported her well picking up three wickets. In reply,Saurashtra fell ten runs short and were bundled out for 105 runs. Mridula Jadeja (28 runs) and Pragnaba Rana (30 runs) were the main scorers for Saurashtra. Darshan Rajput spearheaded the Gujarat attack picking up six crucial wickets. Peeti Wadhwana also bowled well.
In their second innings,Gujarat declared at a hefty total of 212 rus thanks to an unbeaten cebtury scored by Disha Patel. In reply,Saurashtra could manage only 37 runs for the loss of two wickets before bad light stopped play. Gujarat won the match on their first innings lead.
