Panther captured at Barwala

A five-year-old panther was captured by wildlife officials at Rehod in Barwala area on Tuesday morning.

A five-year-old panther was captured by wildlife officials at Rehod in Barwala area on Tuesday morning. A forest official was also injured while tranquilising the panther.

A wildlife official said that panther had created panic in the village after it was spotted two days ago. “A trap was laid by the villagers to catch the panther today. As the panther was caught this morning,they called the the wildlife officials who administered tranquiliser after which it became unconscious,” an official at Barwala said. “But while tranquilising it,one of the range officers of the department got injured.”

“The panther is a young male and it got injured in an effort to free itself. It will be examined by a veterinarian at Chhatbir Zoo after which it will be released in the forests in Morni,” he added.
