The ongoing painting exhibition at Koregaon Park pays a tribute to the victims of German Bakery as it sends across a message of peace
The German Bakery blast managed to drag Pune into the list of terror struck cities. And while the city displayed enormous courage and patience in its fight against terrorism, the recent addition was an exhibition organised by Bliss Art Gallery in Koregaon Park that paid tribute to the victims of German Bakery blast using art as the medium.
Based on the theme- way to peace the exhibition that started on April 14 will continue till May 4 and includes various city-based artistes showcasing their interpretation of the theme via their paintings. Throwing the light on the theme and her paintings,Maitriyee Suman, one of the participants says,”I had nothing in mind before I began, but my paintings are based on nature and spirituality, which I believe are the true reflections of peace in the world.”
While Suman’s paintings stressed on the need to promote peace,Chinmayee Sukhthankar’s paintings in acrylic reflected the wonderful relationship between painting and peace through the portrayal of human emotions. An art graduate from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay and professional painter,Sukhthankar says,”I have chosen different aspects of human emotions amalgamated with metaphysical actions like going to temple, meditation and so on in order to attain the state of peace.” Her paintings depict wide range of ways in which humans find tranquility such as- sitting in a temple, walking in a garden and meditating while sleeping and so on.
Hindu Gods and Godesses have been all-time source of inspiration for painters and sculptors for ages. With her themes based on the same,Pallavi Sonavne, one of the youngest painters amongst the lot says,”My paintings are well poised between god and his creations and I have painted lord Ganesh, who is considered to be vighnharta along with peacock that symbolises dance of joy and prosperity.
