Ordnance Factory workers protest

The employees of the Ordnance Factory,Dehu Road had recently taken out an agitation against the non-implementation of the sixth pay commission report and deploying contract labourers even in routine production activity and proposal of privatisation in defence production industry.

The employees of the Ordnance Factory,Dehu Road had recently taken out an agitation against the non-implementation of the sixth pay commission report and deploying contract labourers even in routine production activity and proposal of privatisation in defence production industry.

The employees’ union is affiliated to the National Progressive Defence Employees Federation (NPDEF) and Trade Union Co-ordination Center.

On the occasion,a gate meeting was organised at the Factory Gate in the morning which was attended by a large number of employees.

The gate meeting was led by Bharat Shelar. Induprakash Menon,general secretary of NPDEF while addressing the meeting expressed concern over the privatisation in defence sector in the name of outsourcing. He also said that the sixth pay commission report should be implemented.

All allowances should be revised with effect from January 1,2006. Menon also appealed all defence employees to join the struggle. G G Mahabaleshwar and V B Parande,leader of NPDEF and treasurer Chandrashekhar Holmukhe also spoke on the occasion.
