The officers of the 77th Marine Engineering Specialisation course were felicitated and the passing out parade held at the valedictory function at the INS Shivaji in Lonavala, on Saturday morning.
Rear Admiral SP Lal, the chief staff officer (Technical) with the headquarters of the Western Naval Command reviewed the passing out parade, that marked the conclusion of the 79-week course at INS Shivaji, the premier technical training establishment of Indian Navy. A total of 73 officers comprising 46 Indian Naval, 8 Coast Guards and 19 International Officers passed out from the portals of INS Shivaji.
Lt Hari Prasad won the CNS Rolling Trophy for standing first in overall order of merit, Lt Vishnu KV was awarded a book prize for standing second in overall order of merit and Lt Mayank Gupta was adjudged the ‘Best All Round Officer’ of the passing out course and was awarded ‘The Hammer’ for excelling in academics, sports and extra curricular activities, a press release from the INS Shivaji said.
Rear Admiral Lal, who is an alumnus of the establishment delivered the valedictory address and distributed awards and certificates to the passing out officers. Commodore G Srinivasan, who heads INS Shivaji and Captain Ravnish Seth, Officer-in-Charge of the Centre of Marine Engineering Technology (CMET) of INS Shivaji were present.
INS Shivaji imparts specialised training on Marine Engineering to the officers and sailors of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and friendly foreign Navies. Marine Engineering Specialisation Course is the flagship course being conducted at the CMET.
