A day after the Bombay High Court gave its ruling on the road between Chandni Chowk and Pashan gate of the NDA,the academy came out with a statement clarifying its stand. “We respect the court judgment. It is abundantly clear that the court has recognised our security concerns and also directed the Pune Municipal Corporation to take appropriate action under Regulation 8 of the Development Control Regulations under Section 20(2) of the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act,1966 which also says that “commercial users, such as petrol pumps, service stations, road side restaurants, motel, tourist resorts, rest houses, bars, shops and activities likely to affect National Defence Academy shall not be permitted in the land situated on this stretch of road,” a press release issued by the NDA said.
“The honourable court has also issued clear cut directions to hotel/ restaurant owners regarding operations, parking and timings of operation and also to other users about timings and security checks on persons as well as vehicles. NDA would ensure that the court directives are followed in its totality and any deviation would be reported as infringement of the court orders by the parties concerned,” it said.
