Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) started eight e-buses called ‘e-Shivaee’ on the Kolhapur-Pune route Friday. “Four more e-Shivaee buses will soon run between these cities, making it a total of 12 buses,” said Kailas Patil, divisional controller, Pune MSRTC.
Of the eight buses, four will leave from Swargate to Kolhapur and four from Kolhapur to Swargate. In a day, these buses will now do a total of 16 trips between the cities.
The e-Shivaee buses will leave Swargate for Kolhapur everyday at 5 am, 5.30 am, 6 am, 9 am, 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm, 3.30 pm, and 7.30 pm. The e-Shivaee from Kolhapur to Swargate will function at 5 am, 5.30 am, 6. am, 9 am, 9.30 am, 10.30 am and 1.30 pm, 2.30pm, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm. “These timings will be tweaked after four new buses are added,” said Patil.
The MSRTC is set to roll out e-Shivaee services for different cities in Maharashtra in the upcoming phases. Currently, the e-Shivaee buses run from Pune to Mumbai, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
The MSRTC had announced the e-Shivaee bus service in 2019, and the first phase under the initiative was a roll out of buses between Pune-Ahmednagar route, started in June 2022.
