additional rupee per litre will put an extra burden on the federation, which it has decided to bear from its own treasury.

The federation has also claimed that with this hike in the milk procurement price, the milk producers attached to it,would get a higher price than anywhere else in the state.

The procurement price for the cow’s milk will now be Rs 15 per litre, while that for the buffalo milk Rs 20.50 per litre. In all,the procurement price that Katraj would be giving to its 800 members will be Re 1.95 more than the government procurement rates, while that of the buffalo milk would be Rs 3.65 per litre.

“This exercise will give an additional burden of Rs 45 lakh per month on the federation, but we are ready to bear it,and there will not be any increase in the MRP of Katraj,” Kshirsagar said.
