Man,son killed over ‘land dispute’

A 58-year-old man and his son were murdered allegedly by a group of villagers at Khadki village near Daund,around 75 km from the city,on Sunday.

A 58-year-old man and his son were murdered allegedly by a group of villagers at Khadki village near Daund,around 75 km from the city,on Sunday. Police suspect the crime to be the fallout of a land dispute.

Pune rural police identified the deceased as Jalindar Kale and his son Ganesh (32).

Three persons who were with the duo were also attacked. All of them are under treatment at a hospital in the city,police said.

Shankar Kengar,deputy superintendent of police (Daund division),said the incident took place around 12.30 pm. The two were assaulted with knives. Police have identified the three suspects in the case of whom one had been detained,police said.

Inspector Dayaram Shinde of Daund police station said a search was on for the other suspects. He said there was a dispute over land within the family. A police team has been deployed in the village.
