The rains would be mostly due to the wind discontinuity at the lower atmosphere.

Solapur has recorded the highest temperature in the state on Friday with temperature touching 43.1 degrees Celsius in the district. Most parts of the state have seen extreme heat as maximum temperature remained above 39 degrees mark. The only silver lining is the prediction by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of light to very light rains in some parts of the state starting April 6.

Pune on Friday recorded 39.6 degrees maximum temperature with minimum temperature being 19.8. The IMD has predicted that like other parts of the state, Pune may also see light to very light rains especially between April 9 and 10. While rains can help bring some relief, still parts of Vidarbha may see heat-wave like conditions. The rains would be mostly due to the wind discontinuity at the lower atmosphere.

Barring Konkan and Goa, most parts of Maharashtra may witness light to very light rains. Some districts in Vidarbha may also see thundery activities. The rains can help bring some respite from the sweltering heat and hot and humid nights that the state is going through.
