Former India Davis cupper and national tennis coach Nandan Bal was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association on Tuesday.
Bal,who has also been a coaching member of the Indian Davis cup team,was presented the award at the conclusion of the two-day coach’s workshop organised by the MSLTA at Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi.
Prominent former India players and coaches awarded in recognition of their international achievements in the field of tennis coaching included former national champion and Indian woman coach Radhika (Tulpule) Kanitkar,Davis cupper Nitin Kirtane,Manoj Vaidya and Hemant Bendrey,said a press note.
Others who received awards for promoting tennis coaching at the grassroots level included Rakesh Patil,Nand Kumar Rokade,Nandkumar Megde,Ram Gonte,Babu Mallaya and Janardhan.
Navnath Palande,Arun Wakankar,Sunny Jacob,Santosh Chatterjee and Rohini Lokhande bagged awards in recognition for of their services in the field of tennis coaching,the note said.
