The Pune police have arrested builder Sudhir Vasant Karnataki (55),a co-accused of suspended corporator Deepak Mankar in the land scam case registered by Yeshwant Natu (67) in June last year. Karnataki was later released on bail.
Senior police inspector Ganpat Nikam of Khadak police station confirmed that Karnataki was arrested on Saturday evening.
He was released as the Supreme Court had granted him anticipatory bail, Nikam said. The anti-extortion cell has so far arrested 18 suspects in this case, including Mankar. They were also released on bail a few months ago. It may be recalled that Natu,a resident of Sahkarnagar, had lodged a complaint saying Mankar and his goons threatened him and his family and forcibly acquired their property in Shukrawar Peth.
