“While I don’t deny my act is a satire on our political and economic situation — as you can judge from the name of my party — I don’t intend this to be a joke. Our primary intention is to create awareness among people about politics but we are also planning on how to have our candidates represent us from various constituencies,” he says.

It’s no surprise then that his candidates are all going to be comedians from across the country since he feels that “comedy is a great tool and comedians have the power of being heard by the common man”. Bhatti has already signed up a few but intends to withhold the names till the official press conference that will take place later today in Mumbai.

His campaign too,he assures,will stand out as “the party will propagate lawlessness and sign alliance deals with majority parties and push Recession party candidate for the prime minister’s position”. The funnyman however,confesses that this will be subject to EC’s approval of a campaign like this. “We’ve already sent a letter to the EC requesting them to allow us campaign in our own style as we have no intentions of violating the rules,” explained the 62-year-old.

Bhatti candidly states that he isn’t very ambitious at the moment but intends to lay the foundation of what will be a serious affair in future. “We don’t even have a party symbol this year but if we manage to win any seat we are sure we won’t be worse than the corrupt politicians that India has at the moment.”
