The Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN),Pune,celebrated its 53rd foundation day on Saturday.
One of the premier centralised training institutes imparting training to civil engineers of the Indian Railways had completed 50 years of its establishment in 2009.
In his welcome speech,IRICEN Director C P Tayal enumerated the various steps being taken to equip officers with knowledge of advance technology related to railway tracks,bridges and other structures.
Kul Bhushan,Member Engineering and Member Electrical,Railway Board,was the chief guest of the function. Subodh Jain,General Manager,Central Railway also graced the occasion. Many senior serving and retired officers,including Pune Divisional Railway Manager Vishal Agarwal,were present too.
Addressing the gathering,Bhushan emphasised the need for improving the capability of engineering department of the Railways to handle future challenges. He said IRICEN had taken many steps in development of infrastructure for training.
Jain appreciated the IRSE 1986 batch,silver jubilee batch of the institute,for its contribution to functioning of the Railways. He also praised IRICEN for various improvements in training.
During the function,the chief guest presented trophies and medals to outstanding IRSE probationers and Group ‘B officers for their performance. Mementos were presented to IRSE officers of the 1986 batch who have completed 25 years of service in the Indian Railways. Bhushan also released a technical book,Track Monitoring,prepared for enhancing the training capability,and the March 2013 edition of IRICEN Journal of Civil Engineering. A seminar was organised on the occasion by the IRSE officers of 1986 batch on experience sharing in regard to improvement in working.
