The DSK Supinfocom Canteen at their campus on Solapur Road is a posh one. The whiff of an urgent lunch greets you as you walk in. Buzzing with students discussing their struggle to get a good internship, the conversations around are all about the upcoming two-month internship. Raag Singhania, who just completed his first year in animation feels that the internship gives a lot of weightage to one’s resume. “All the courses here are of five years. If you have an internship after every year in five different companies or even five internships in the same company,it adds weight to your resume. So this is an important time for us,” he quips.

Almost all the topics take off from campus life, which is not surprising. Premlal Ravilal and Rahul Manohar, from third year Transport Design, are busy completing their term project. “We have no plans of going home as we have to complete our project and submit it for evaluation. Once that tension is over,we have to start our hunt for internships too,” says Manohar.

It’s easy to fit into an environment that is quite relaxed. College life provides that ease – one can enjoy the freedom that it provides and simultaneously plan well for the future. Aman Yajurpedi,3rd year,Video Game Design,is eager for his training to begin. “I just returned from a trip to Goa with my friends. I have already got an internship which I am looking forward to,” he says.

Cricket matches are projected in the hostel and the boys are so enthusiastic about the sport that they teach it to their French classmates too. “When we won the World Cup,they knew that we won something but didn’t know why we were getting so emotional about it. They know the game but I don’t think they will ever be as passionate about it as we are,” smiles Sameer Gaikwad,a third year Transport Design student. These little conversations about current projects and future aims continue even as deliciously hot food is served at the canteen. As some groups get up,others take their place and the room never loses the buzz of activity.
