Director of the Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) Prof Hemant Abhyankar on Sunday said that the insititute has contributed a lot to the education sector and his role in this contribution was only of a medium. Abhyankar was speaking after his felicitation by chairman of Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust Rajkumar Agarwal. Abhyankar was felicitated by VIT for receiving prestigious “Praj Maha-Entrepreneur Award” recently.
Managing trustee of Vishwakarma Group Bharat Agarwal,vice president of the trust Bajarangdas Lohia,trustee Pratap Pardeshi and Abhyankar’s wife Gulabtai were present on the dais. Abhyankar said,“Every element of the institute has contributed for the success of VIT and therefore he feli this is an honour of all those people who have served for the institute in their own capacities.”

Presentation on scholarship
THE British Council Library is holding a presentation on Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships scheme for postgraduate masters degree in Scotland. Award for city technology firm
Pune-based Harbinger Knowledge Products has been honoured with the Red Herring Global award at a function in Laguna Niguel,California. Harbinger won the coveted place in the Top 100 Global list announced by Red Herring Inc.,a global media company uniting the est high-technology innovators. The award honours the year’s most promising private technology ventures from around the world.

Writer Malatibai Gadgil dead
Veteran leader of Communist Party of India (Marxists) and writer Malatibai Gadgil (96) died on Sunday. She was active in the various movements of the party till the age of 85. Malatibai was instrumental in founding organisation of women working in scrap business. She was also one of the founders of Indian Women Federation’s Jabalpur branch. She represented India in World Women Convention held in Berlin few years ago. She authored books such as Muslim Shramika,Daba Batliwali,Satiche Bandh Vimochan,Agali Andolane Vegle Andolak,Amhi Saglyajani and Aglya Veglya Katha. She was the recipient of “Shrampratishtha” award of “Balraj Sahni – Sahir Ludhianwi Foundation”.

Phd orientation programme
Shree Chanakya Education Society’s Indira Institute of Management’s Post-Graduate Research Centre has arranged an orientation programme from February 8 to 10 for candidates who wish to appear for the PhD entrance exam of University of Pune to be conducted on February 14 and 21.
The examination will be covering questions on general aptitude and specialisation specific knowledge of the candidates. The participants will be given an overview of the syllabus as per their specialisation and case studies will also be discussed. Director of the institute Prachee Javadekar and Dilip Sarwate will guide the students. Marketing,human resource management,finance and computer management are some of the subjects that will be covered.
