IISc director to inaugurate POINTS programme at DRDO
This year,the 14 th course of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT)’s POINTS course which has a batch size of 280 scientists is being inaugurated by Prof. P Balram,Director ,Indian Institute of Science(IISc),Bangalore. The inauguration will be done on December 29,2009. The POINTS training programme,a recent addition at the DIAT,has been devised under the Prof. LM Patniak ,Vice Chancellor of DIAT to understand the entire spectrum of advanced defence technologies and good techno-managerial practices followed across the globe. Other than the academics; sports,adventure,cultural events,yoga and stress management techniques are also part of the training,said Dr. RN Pralhad,Program Director,POINTS.

Srinivas assumes command

Commodore Kalidoss Srinivas,VSM has assumed command of INS Shivaji,which is based in Lonavala and is the premier marine engineering training establishment of the Indian Navy. He took over from Commodore DM Deshpande last week. Commissioned in the Navy on 25 August 1982,Commodore Srinivas specialised in Marine Engineering and joined Submarine Arm. He underwent his M Tech in design from IIT Delhi,staff course from DSCC Wellington and did his Naval Higher Command Course in 2004. He held several key assignments afloat and ashore. His important staff appointments include Deputy General Manager at Ship Building Centre,Vizag and Deputy Naval Attaché Embassy of India Moscow,Warship Overseeing Team Visakhapatnam,Submarine base INS Virbhav and Submarine Maintenance Unit(Vizag). His sea appointments include Engineer Officer of INS Aditya,INS Karanj,INS Kalvari and INS Vaghli,said a press release. ENS
