“All of them were really good friends of ours. We have been sitting here for the last two hours to get a chance to speak to them,” said an employee of Vyoma Graphics waiting outside the Ruby Hall Clinic to get a chance to check up on their colleagues injured in the horrific accident that killed four people and injured 10.

The employee said that she got a call around 10:30 am about the accident, and then heard about it on the news as well. “We immediately arrived at the hospital after getting information,” she said.  She said 44-year-old Subhash Bhosale, one of the deceased, had recovered from an injury just a few months ago. “He had joined back work just around three months back after recovering from an accident. My heart goes out for him.”

Many employees from the company had gathered outside the hospital in Hinjewadi, concerned for the safety of their colleagues. The tempo traveller carrying employees of the company caught fire while travelling in Hinjewadi on Wednesday morning. This resulted in four people succumbing to burn injuries while the 10 injured were admitted to hospitals for recovery.

Avinash, an employee of a private firm near the location of the incident, said that he heard people screaming outside the gate of his office. “I and a few others rushed outside to find that a burning traveller still had people inside it. It had crashed into the divider on the road and came to a stop a few metres after that. We got fire extinguishers to the spot and tried to douse the fire and help the people escape. Within a few minutes, the fire-brigade arrived and they brought the fire under control.”
