In his first ever concert in Pune, the Canadian singer wowed the crowd with his most popular songs and his witty charm
Hi,my name is Bryan Adams. And delirium gripped the crowd assembled at Amanora Park Entertainment Centre,Pune,on Friday night. After having waited patiently for over two hours, the sight of the Canadian rockstar was like Manna from heaven. The first concert in his Asian tour saw him open with the song,Run to You,followed by Here I am. I am told that this is the first concert of this kind here in Pune…Lets all make it a night to remember, he announced.
When he finally got down to singing the eternal favourite Summer of 69,everyone pitched in. Post that Adams, along with guitarist Keith Scott, launched a jamming session, leaving the audience spell bound. Scott, clearly the winner, even prompted Adams to ask him,How do you manage to do that? to which an amused Scott replied,I don’t really know. I guess it just happens. Adams at one point motioned towards a lit room on one of the towers in the background, and yelled,Dear sir, hello do come down and join us. I have a spare ticket here.
Things got interesting when Adams began scouting the crowds in front of him for someone to come up on stage and sing along with him. Ritika B,who was standing with the crowds in the faraway Zone D says,We could not get to see him up front on the stage, but the sight of Adams performing on the two giant screens and the LED displays was good enough. When the yelling and the screeching began tearing the decibel levels,Adams quipped,OK,I think we are getting somewhere.
Adams however did come back on stage after having waved his goodbyes to the audiences. The cops came up on stage to signal the end to an otherwise wonderful evening that had begun with a fashion show organised by JaiHind and a performance by local act,Highway 61.
For 22-year-old Cheetu Mishra, performing live on stage with Bryan Adams was better than the best dream
Her phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since Friday night. It is not everyday that you have Bryan Adams coming in to your city to perform live and give you a chance to perform with him on stage too. This is precisely the dream-come-true story of Cheetu Mishra. A final year architecture student at the BNCA,Mishra got a chance to go up on stage when Adams, who is known for pulling up members from the audiences to perform with him, called her to sing the song,Baby When You are Gone with him.
Mishra is still re-living every moment of her dream. I still don’t remember those few minutes that I shared the stage with him. It all went by in a flash and it was beyond words for me, she gushes. Mishra’s favourite Adams numbers include,The Best of Me and Cloud No 9. She came on stage and immediately touched the Canadian rockstar’s feet sending the audiences into cheerful screams. And then she sang the song heartily.
The plucky girl however confesses that she was a bundle of nerves on stage. When I saw him up close,I just blanked-out for a moment. But when I started to sing, the words just fell into place. Now random people are posting on my wall on Facebook, telling me that I should tour with him on his All-India tour, and that I sang very well, she laughs.
