Even as Pune received moderate showers on Wednesday,the Met department has said though this would continue for next 48 hours,the situation would improve only after Saturday.

On Wednesday,Pune city recorded 3.4 mm rainfall till 8.30 pm. Theres an active low pressure area over the Arabian Sea,because of which the west coast is experiencing showers, said deputy director-general IMD,Pune,Medha Khole. However,good rainfall is expected post July 21 with the axis of the monsoon trough still lying north at present. It is expected to move closer to its normal position only by July 21,she said. Met department said weather models indicate that the southward movement of the axis would see increased rainfall activity in the central parts of India,including Pune. The Met department said a cyclonic circulation over the north of Bay of Bengal is likely to develop towards July 21.
