Health check-up
Metropolis Health Services,India’s leading multinational chain of diagnostic centres has organised a special health check up camp pan India for women to commemorate Mother’s Day. This special health check up camp includes health check up packages for women at a special discount of up to 40 per cent and has been available from the May 10 up to May 31. The check ups will be provided for over 20 days at their centers in Mumbai,Pune,Ahmedabad,Surat,Bengaluru,Chennai,Coimbatore,Kerala,Delhi and Kolkata. 100th AHA workshop
Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences announced 100th AHA (American Heart Association) workshop,which is to be held from May 29 to 31. Noted Intensivists of the city including Dr Prasad Rajhans,Dr Shiva Iyer,Dr Pradeep D’costa,Dr Lalitha Pillai will be conducting the workshops. The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr Shirish Prayag and Dr M S Hiremath May on 29 Symbiosis,Senapati Bapat Road. The AHA workshop has been a regular event since 2002,when the college became a certified International Training Organization (ITO). Over a period of seven years,SIHS has regularly organised Basic Life Support (BLS),Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),Pediatric Emergency Assessment,Recognition and Stabilisation (PEARS),ECG and Pharmacology courses of AHA and Advanced Trauma Course and Access Course of ITLS. All these above courses were conducted in different cities like Pune,Mumbai,Delhi,Hyderabad,Nashik,Solapur,Aurangabad,Amravati,Nagpur.
A new report from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that overweight affects one in 10 adolescents worldwide. Childhood overweight is being regarded as the most common prevalent nutritional disorder of children and adolescents. The problem assumes greater risk when parents also don’t know when their child becomes obese and they remain apprehensive about this disorder in their kids and don’t how to deal with it and whom to approach. Dr Shashank Shah,a leading bariatric surgeon has helped many such patients to improve their health and psychological aliments related to obesity. He held a talk with the parents,and listing a few problems he says that obese adolescents are more likely to be obese as adults,hence they are at increased risk for a number of diseases including: stroke,cardiovascular disease,hypertension,diabetes,and some cancers. Among the potential Negative Psychological Outcomes — depressive symptoms,poor body image,low self-concept,risk for eating disorders Negative Health Consequences — insulin resistance,type 2 diabetes,hypertension,sleep apnea,early puberty,orthopedic problems,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (fatty infiltration and inflammation of the liver).
