Book on paediatric HIV
Prayas Health Group,an NGO based in Pune,recently published ‘Management of pediatric HIV: A physician’s handbook’. It focuses on practical aspects of management of HIV infected children,with consideration to the Indian context of the disease and the availability of treatment in our country. Dr Dilip Sarda,president of Indian Medical Association (IMA),Pune branch,released the book. Dr Sharad Aagrkhedkar,vice-president,IMA Pune branch,was also present on the occasion. Dr Vinay Kulkarni,medical director of Prayas Health Group and one of the authors of the book said that the book is written for family physicians and pediatricians who otherwise do not deal with HIV infected children on a daily basis. Therefore the book act as good reference for them and will address their needs and concerns while treating the same.
K B Grant felicitated
Indian Medical Association Pune Branch felicitated senior cardiologist Dr K B Grant and founder president of Ruby Hall on the occasion of successfully completing 90 years of active life and 50 years of Ruby Hall Clinic. He was felicitated for dedication and devotion to Medical field on January 3 during Cardiology Update held at Dr K H Sancheti Auditorium at Dr Nitu Mandke IMA House,Tilak Road Pune. Dr K BGrant,in his speech pressed the need for the medical fraternity to take up research work as most of the work done in the western countries is just copied by us. We do not lack in talent,but in out attempt to do original work. He also emphasised life style modifications is necessary for younger generation to achieve longevity.
Christmas with a change
Ruby Hall Clinic,Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre in association with Shristhi Khare and Group celebrated Christmas with the Children at the hospital recently. Music,dance and a magic show were used as a therapeutic tool for the children suffering from cancer and thalassemia. The parents and Ruby Hall staff also participated wholeheartedly to make this an eventful day.
