Gorhe,Narvekar fail to turn up for voice sample test

Three days after a Shivajinagar court permitted police to conduct voice sample tests on Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe and Milind Narvekar.

Say did not receive the court order; to challenge order in higher court

Three days after a Shivajinagar court permitted police to conduct voice sample tests on Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe and Milind Narvekar, personal assistant to Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, both failed to turn up for the tests at Bundgarden police station, saying that they did not receive the copy of the court order. They said they would challenge the order in the higher court.

The duo was asked to be present for voice sampling tests at the police station at 12 noon on Saturday. The two gave separate letters addressed to the senior police inspector, stating that they were yet to get the written copy of the operative order from the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) R L Wankhade.

Suhas Nadgauda, senior police inspector with Bundgarden police station, said,“The two have given us a letter, saying they have received the typographed copy of the court order. This argument is not acceptable as the operative order was given in an open court. We will again approach the honourable court.”

The letters by Gorhe and Narvekar said they have applied for attested copies of the court order and they won’t be able to appeal to the higher court without that copy. It said they have decided to challenge the order of the JMFC in the higher court.

The Pune police had booked Gorhe and Narvekar under Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code for giving provocation with intent to cause riot and Section 120 (B) for criminal conspiracy after their cellphone conversation was tapped on December 28 last year.
