Girls explore career opportunities in Army

Girls in Pune evinced keen interest in career opportunities in Army at an education fest organised at the Genesis College,Hadpsar on Sunday.

“A number of girl students evinced keen interest in the career opportunities in army at the career fest organised at the Genesis,’’ said army’s Director (Recruiting),Pune,Col Bharat Dabral. To motivate the youth of Pune to join army as officers,Army Recruiting Office,Pune,participated in ‘One career seminar’ organised by Genesis Education Society on Sunday. The girls who enquired about the women’s entry in the army were informed about the number of career options.” Graduate girls can become commissioned officers both in the Technical & non technical fields. On being selected the women join army’s officers training academy at Chennai to undergo 49 weeks of training . On successful completion of training,they are commissioned as Lieutenants. The girls were informed that presently the women entry other than in the army medical corps can serve as short service officers for ten years,extendable by another 4 years,’’ said Dabral.

He added that the event focused on the career options available to the students after completion of 12 th and graduation-level education. Dabral added that an army information booth at the venue of the ‘career festival’ attended to the queries of the aspirants.

The army way of life and the attractive pay packages were the highlight of the presentation given by the Director Recruiting.

The prospective candidates were guided on how to apply & prepare for National Defence Academy (NDA) ,10+2 technical entries after 12 th as well as MBBS at AFMC.
