German visa application centre in Pune by next year

The German Consulate will open a visa application centre in the city early next year. Micheal Siebert,Consul General of Germany,announced this in Pune on Friday

The German Consulate will open a visa application centre in the city early next year. Micheal Siebert,Consul General of Germany,announced this in Pune on Friday. Siebert,was in the city to inaugurate ‘Trained in Germany’,a job fair in Pune.

Siebert said similar centres would be opened in Ahmedabad and Goa in the next year. “With Pune having ties with Germany,in terms of industries this decision was taken. These visas would be helpful for businessmen planning short trips to Germany,” he said.

Bernhard Steinrücke,Director General,Indo-German Chamber of Commerce,said German companies are amongst the highest investors in India. The bilateral trade between India and Germany is currently at 18 billion euros.

In Pune,the approximate investment by German companies is pegged at $7 billion. The present fair is being organised by Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Pune in cooperation of Alumniportal Duestchaland.

The fair was organised by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce,Pune,in cooperation with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The fair is part of a series of events which has started in May 2013 in Brazil and would be followed by South Africa and Poland.

Both the officials pointed to the opportunities for Indian engineers,in Germany,as the later faces a shortfall of 40,000 engineers.
