Gangster Ganesh Marne, wanted for Mohol’s murder, arrested
The probe revealed that suspect Polekar and his uncle Namdev Kamgude were in a dispute with Mohol over money and land dealings. Polekar started working for Mohol as a part of the conspiracy to kill him.

Dreaded gangster Ganesh Marne—one of the alleged masterminds and key accused in murder of gangster Sharad Mohol—was arrested by Pune City police late on Wednesday night.
Mohol was shot dead on the occasion of his wedding anniversary by a group of men, including his associate Sahil alias Munna Polekar, in a lane near his house in Sutardara area of Kothrud on January 5. Pune city police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the alleged prime accused Vitthal Mahadev Shelar and 16 of his aides, including two lawyers, arrested in connection with Mohol’s murder.
A probe revealed that Shelar along with Marne had masterminded Mohol’s murder. The police said the accused had procured pistols from Madhya Pradesh for the murder and held their shooting practice in the Mulshi area, on at least two occasions before the murder. Preet Singh of MP’s Umrathi and dreaded gangster Ganesh Marne of Karve Nagar, who is known to be a rival of Sharad Mohol, have been named as wanted accused in this case.
Investigation into Mohol’s murder revealed that the alleged assailants deliberately gunned him down in the view of the CCTV camera to instill terror in the minds of citizens. A senior police officer with Pune City police said, “Ganesh Marne and his two aides were arrested by the crime branch when the three were trying to flee via Pune Nashik Road.”
The probe also revealed that suspect Polekar and his uncle Namdev Kamgude were in a dispute with Mohol over money and land dealings. Polekar started working for Mohol as a part of the conspiracy to kill him.
