Seven men were arrested and Rs 4 lakh seized on Friday night after a gambling hub near a Ganesh mandal was busted by city police in a combined operation of the city crime branch and the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
As per the tip-off from the informants of police inspector Dattatay Temghare of the anti- organised crime cell,a big teen patti gambling was on in the night near Shoor Shivba Ganesh Mandal in Katraj in the back side of a temple. After laying a trap at 11 pm at night,cops arrested seven men and recovered cash amounting to Rs four lakh 33 thousand. We have also seized all their cards and other stationary in the raid, informed a senior police officer at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The operation was complete by 11:30 pm.
Names of the arrested persons are,Suhas deshmukh (37),Shantimal Sonkamble (33),Rajendra Nikam (34),Kishor Gosavi (36),Tukaram Giranje (35),Bandu Suryavanshi (32),Shankar Jadhav (43). They have been arrested under sections 4 and 5 of the Bombay Prevention of Gambling Act.
Officers from the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station is carrying out the further investigation in the case.
