French cinema will come alive at ‘The Festival of French Cinema’ on June 18 and 19 at NFAI. The event has been organised by Alliance Francaise,in collaboration with National Film Archives of India (NFAI),the Pune Film Foundation and the French Embassy in India. The festival will showcase five French films of the recent years – Podium ,directed by Yann Miox,is a spell-binding story of an amateur singer’s dangerous obsession with his idol; Janis and John,a film by Samuel Benchetrit,is an insurance con’s search for look-alikes of John Lennon and Janis Joplin; Ne te Retourne,( Don’t Look Back ),tells the story of a journey of revelations as a writer decides to write her own biography; Apres Vous ( After You ) is a film that explores the life of a suicidal florist; and Le Serpent is a story of murder,blackmail and kidnapping and the undying hope of the protagonist in these dark times. Entry is free on a first come first serve basis.
