Documents set on fire at SRPF cop’s house

Many documents were set on fire by unidentified persons at the house of a State Reserve Police Force constable.

Many documents were set on fire by unidentified persons at the house of a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) constable,Ranjit Mohite (26),on Suraksha Nagar campus in Hadapsar on Thursday. Mohite was in Mumbai on work and his wife was out of city to meet relatives when the incident occurred.

Mohite lodged the complaint with Hadapsar police on Saturday. The men had used petrol from Mohite’s motorcycle to set the documents on fire. Many certificates and other belongings of Mohite were gutted. On Thursday evening,his neighbour called him saying excessive smoke was emanating from his house. He asked the neighbour to break the lock and check. The neighbour found all his documents collected at a spot and gutted. The fire damaged a large portion of the house.

Pandharinath Mandhare senior police inspector with Hadapsar police station said,“As duplicate keys were used,we suspect that someone who knew Mihite has done this.”
