Educational tour for J&K children
An educational-cum-motivational tour comprising 25 children in the age group of 15 to 19 years accompanied by four teachers from remote and underdeveloped areas of Jammu and Kashmir visited BEG and Centre,Kirkee,as part of Operation Sadbhavna. The tour is being organised by 33 RR,HQ 163 and HQ 16 Corps AOR. The primary aim of the tour was to give exposure to children about various facets of urban India and numerous educational options available in the country along with making aware of the rich heritage of our country. Colonel A K Mitra,officiating commandant,BEG and Centre,Kirkee,during an interaction with the children called upon them to utilise the opportunity to get educated.
Join the Forces to serve the nation: Maj Banga
More and more youngsters should join the Armed Forces to serve the nation,was the appeal made by Major Vineet Banga of Military Intelligence School. Banga was speaking at a seminar on Recruitment in the Indian Armed Forces,intelligence and Kargil victory,organised for Wanowri police. With the help of various photographs,Major Banga threw light on various challenges faced by the Indian forces during the Kargil war and the way the forces overcame them. He also talked about various ways of entering the Armed Forces and guided the police officials about how intelligence could be effectively used by the department during investigations.
S Command wins tennis championship
The Southern Command lawn tennis team won the finals of the Army Lawn Tennis Championship at Binaguri,West Bengal. The team comprising captain Kripakar of 26 Madras and captain Sanmeet S Grewal of 43 Armoured Regiment defeated Western Command in the finals.
Air Force band performs at NDA
The mesmerising tune of Air Warrior Symphony Orchestra (AWSO) made the evening more pleasant at the National Defence Academy. The AWSO was formed in June,2002,and is currently housed at Air Force Station Jalahalli,Bangalore. The AWSO symbolises teamwork,harmony and dedication of an air warrior to his profession. Progressing from martial music,successive conductors of the band increased the repertoire to include arrangements of symphonies,overtures,concertos and other forms of music,including Indian classical music.
