Fake lawyer in police custody

Additional chief judicial magistrate V K Yawalkar remanded Uddhav Vinayak Kshetrapale (28) of Shivajinagar in police custody till September 28 in an alleged cheating case. The Pune Bar Association officials had handed over Khetrapale to police for practising at the district and sessions court without a ‘sanad’ (licence to practice). Assistant public prosecutor S M Kadam told the court that custodial interrogation of the suspect was required to find out the number of people he had cheated by practicing as a lawyer.

Jyotikumari case: Re-cross examination over

The re-cross examination of 26 witnesses including two investigating officers in Jyotikumari Choudhary gangrape and murder case was completed this week. Advocate Atul Patil,who took over as defence lawyer represented the two accused – Purshottam Borate and Pradeep Kokate. Next hearing is on September 29.

The association felicitated the first woman district government pleader Ujjwala Pawar,recipient of the Annabhau Sathe literature award Shridhar Kasbekar,president of Janseva Sahakari Bank Satish Gorde,president of the Baner citizens cooperative society Dilip Shelar,chairman of the Pune lawyers consumer cooperative society Rahul Gundecha,director of the Sanmitra Sahakari bank K T Aru,registrar of the district and sessions court Vidya Mishra,additional district lawyers Sanjay Pawar along with newly appointed APPs Sunil Hande,Nathuram Dhaygave Patil,Vilas Ghogre Patil,Maruti Wadekar,director of the Pune cantonment cooperative bank Ajay Wagh,legal advisor of railway board Pravin Salunkhe,and first woman bailiff V H Ghumaste along with Nilima Vartak.
