Insurance firm told to pay Rs 12 lakh in accident death case
Additional sessions judge V V Bambarde has directed Bajaj Alliance Insurance company to pay Rs 12 lakh with nine per cent interest from 2009 to the family of Mahadeo Mangale (53) who died after an autorickshaw hit him while riding a cycle near Sanghvi Phata. Mangale died about year-and-a-half ago after he was severely injured in the accident that took place on February 23,2008. The insurance firm argued that accident cannot be a reason for his death. However,doctors treating Mangale said the reason for his death was the accident injuries. Mangale had to spend Rs 5 lakh on his treatment.
Delhi court dismisses Tabrejs plea
A sessions judge in Delhi dismissed Tabrej Telgis (nephew of Abdul Karim Telgi) plea to set-off his 5-year sentence in a fake stamp case registered by Delhi police. The plea was made from Yerawada jail against the jail term served by him from January 2004 as under-trial in another case in Pune. Tabrej was originally arrested in Pune on January 4,2004 for possessing government stamps and was sentenced to seven years in jail.
CJJD and JMFC exam on Sept 16
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission will conduct preliminary examination for 150 posts of joint civil judge junior division (CJJD) and judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) on September 16 at Aurangabad,Mumbai and Nagpur.
