Contractor murder: Nine labourers arrested

A 42-year-old contractor was allegedly murdered by some labourers at Wanowrie on Saturday night over unpaid wages. The police have arrested nine suspects including a minor on Sunday.

The victim,identified as Bhimsen Hajari Samantarai,was a resident of Hadapsar. The incident came to light after his body was found in a sewage line on Sunday morning. The police said Samantarai had not paid the wages of the labourers since nine months and made them work under harsh conditions. The labourers had threatened him but he did not pay any heed. “When Samantarai was sleeping in his room in Ramtekdi area,the accused beat him with wooden sticks and dumped his body in a sewage line,” said a police officer.
