Complaint against retired RTO officer,wife for amassing unaccounted wealth

The State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday registered an offence against retired assistant regional transport officer (RTO) and his wife for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 95 lakh.

The duo has been identified as Sajjad Rajekhan Bargir (60) and Rizwana Sajjad Bargir,residents of Gulmohar building in Wanavdi. Sajjad is the son of filmmaker Raja Bargir.

In July 1979,Sajjad joined the state transport department as assistant inspector. He retired as assistant RTO on February 29,2011 after working in different parts of the city and settled down in Pune. ACB investigation so far reveal the couple acquired about 60 per cent more wealth than their known sources of income between 1974 and 2011.

In 2009,when Sajjad was posted in Nagpur,he lodged a complaint against his driver Pavan Asulkar for allegedly stealing Rs 18 lakh. However,the media reports related to the case mentioned the possibility of Sajjads unaccounted wealth. Following the reports,the director general of ACB initiated an open inquiry against Bargir.

Sarang Awad,superintendent of ACB,Pune,said,The inquiry revealed that Sajjad and his wife acquired unaccounted wealth of over Rs 95 lakh. Accordingly,an offence has been registered against them. The ACB has detained the couple and the process to formally arrest them is on. According

to ACB,Rajwana helped her husband Sajjad in amassing unaccounted wealth.
