Billys Food Corner on Main Street offers reinforces the saying good things come in small packages
Tucked away just next to Kohinoor Restaurant on Main Street,Camp is a compact, neat, though nondescript eatery. Its so small and inconspicuous that if you arent looking out for it specifically, its very easy to give it a miss. Billys Food Corner is just the place for you if you are in the mood for some home-cooked food, offered at honest prices.
Run single-handedly by Hemali Bilimoria, with some help from her son,Billis offers everything from sandwiches, parathas, burgers, rolls, shakes and chaat and all of it in the price range of Rs 15 to 35. One of the main reasons why we have so many regular customers is because we have kept the prices very reasonable and well, honest, says Bilimoria. The best part of eating here, according to our diners,is that I make the orders fresh and piping hot, within minutes of them placing it,unlike in larger eateries, where food is generally re-heated over and over again, she adds.
Revealing that the eatery is named Billis after the family name Bilimoria,Hemali says it will complete four successful years on Dec 25. Previously,we had a small family-run business in this same space, but when that closed down,I decided to give the chef in me full rein and hence, this venture. Its been four successful years now and we hope to have a good run in future too, she adds. For first-timers,Bilimoria recommends Chatni Sandwich (Rs 15),Billis Burger (Rs 25),Parathas in aloo, methi and mix veg variants (Rs 30) and Burrito Roll (Rs 35). Most of our regular customers have set choices and they hardly ever deviate from that. Some executives who have offices nearby have been coming over religiously ever since we first opened shop, she adds.
With just enough space to seat six-eight people comfortably,Billis makes up for the space crunch by its delicious preparations and high level of hygiene. So,if you are not ready to loosen your purse strings too much but still want to have good, old fashioned home-food,head to this tiny eatery, just waiting to be discovered by true-blue foodies. As the famous platitude goes,Good things come in small packages. We second that, most definitely
