Mission Apollo in collaboration with ISSET,UK,is organising an Astronaut Camp Programme at Dandeli. The camp will be conducted by specialist astronaut trainers and will train students in the age group of 12 to18 on outdoor locations over six days. The training period,is dedicated to acquire special skill sets required to perform as a team. During this period specialists will train them in interactive and outdoor activities to accomplish skills such as leadership,team spirit,decision-making,crisis management,interpersonal skills enhancement and so on. The modules will be on the same lines of the NASA Astronaut Outdoor Training Programme. Chris Barber from ISSET UK,and Michelle Ham,astronaut trainer,NASA,are conducting the first camp while the next is scheduled on May 17. This camp will broaden the perspective of students and give them a break from notebook learning and also develop their personality. Studentswill also be certified as Astronaut Cadets by Sheffield HallamUniversity UK and Astronaut Memorial Foundation (USA).
Cooking skills
The American Hospitality Academy India has shaped the eGourmet Challenge- an online culinary demonstration competition. The competition has been organised to celebrate the launch of AHAs Online World Campus and to promote hospitality and culinary arts as a career path in one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Participants will be required to create a four to eight-minute video of the preparation of one innovative Indian appetizer that would be appealing to all age groups and palatable to different cultures. Submission deadline is on April 26 and the winners will be announced on May 6. One can participate in professional,non-professional or student and amateur categories.
