Sarhad Foundation vows to make Kargil tourist destination

Pune: City-based Sarhad foundation has undertaken a project to develop Kargil as an international tourist destination. Sanjay Nahar,founder,Sarhad Foundation,said under the project,residents of Kargil are being encouraged to venture into tourism and allied businesses. “Nine years ago,we started imparting education to 31 children from Kargil in Pune. We are training some of them in hotel management and other hospitality courses so that they can go back and help their families develop Kargil into a tourist destination,” said Nahar. He said 10-12 families from the area have shown interest and have started constructing rest houses to offer accommodation to visiting tourists.

RSS western state chief Sahane dead

Pune: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) western Maharashtra chief Kacheshwar Sahane passed away in Ahmednagar on Thursday. He was 72. Sahane,who was heading RSS activities in western Maharashtra since 2000,was also associated with several social and cultural organisations including Vidya Pratishthan-managed Dr Hedgewar Foundation.

Banasure on EPF’s central board

Pune: Prabhakar Banasure,Maharashtra zone president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS),was recently appointed to the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees’ Provident Fund. He has been associated with BMS since 1976,said a release.
