City on a Song

While cities like Mumbai,Delhi,Kolkata have been central subjects for songs in Hindi movies,the upcoming Marathi flick Jay Jay Maharashtra Majha will feature a song that is picturised on the city of Pune.

While cities like Mumbai,Delhi,Kolkata have been central subjects for songs in Hindi movies,the upcoming Marathi flick Jay Jay Maharashtra Majha will feature a song that is picturised on the city of Pune. The song titled Dhanya Ti Punyanagri will aim to highlight the cultural as well as the modern outlook of the city. The movie,which is being produced and directed by Gautam Joglekar will feature actors Mahesh Manjrekar,Anusha Dandekar,Mrunal Kulkarni and Siddharth Chandekar in lead roles.

Students of musician Vineet Alurkar,who also go under the name of the band BackBenchers will be performing four concerts as a part of their Summer Concerts tour in the city. The concerts that are scheduled to be held this month will be held at two venues in the city. The first of the concerts will be at Maya RLC on Sunday April 8,while the other three will be held at Oasis,NDA Road on April 14 and 15. The musicians study vocals,guitars and drums under Alurkar and are aged five and above. The band members will be performing covers of songs by artistes like Paul Mc Cartney,Elvis Presley,Stevie Wonder,The Scorpions amongst others. Students from countries like Austria,Canada,The Netherlands and the USA will also be a part of the band.
