According to state election department officials,Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),with 25 lakh population, will have 3,200 polling stations,PCMC with 11 lakh population will have 1,500 polling stations and Zilla Parishads will have 4,400 stations. “Each polling station will definitely have one EVM and there would be a few extra ones.. At least 10 per cent machines are kept in reserve in case of any faulty machines. We would require that extra number for each of polling station,’’ said the official.

“The commission has sent a request and we are hoping to get a reply by Monday,’’ said the official. There is a demand to conduct counting of the Zilla Parishad,PMC and PCMC polls the same day.
