As per an earlier decision of the Pune Municipal Corporation,the Pune traffic police has decided to take action against vehicles illegally parked on bicycle tracks and footpaths.

“It has been observed people park vehicles on footpaths and cycle tracks even if there is enough parking space available. From November 20,we will take stern action on such people,” Manoj Patil,deputy commissioner of police (traffic) said.

Chain-snatching: more cops to keep watch

Police Commissioner Meeran Borwankar has assigned additional staff at all the four Zones of the city police particularly for monitoring spots where chain-snatching incidents are common. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Sanjay Jadhav said,“We have identified areas in the city prone to chain-snatching. There are at least two to three chain-snatching-prone spots in the jurisdiction of all the police stations.

“More incidents are in being reported from Wanavdi and Yerwada. Additional staff have been deployed.” On Monday,two motorcycle-borne youths had snatched a gold chain from a pedestrian Sonali Abhijit Gundecha (47),at Wadgaon Sheri.
